About the group
Folk dance group Tine Rožanc is one of the
largest, highest quality and amongst the
oldest folklore groups in Slovenia. It is a part
of the larger cultural organisation Železničarsko
kulturno-umetniško društvo (the Railway Artistic
and Cultural Society) and is sponsored by the
Slovenian Railways. The group has represented
Slovenian folk heritage for almost 70 years in
Slovenia, Europe and beyond.
Members perform in one of the children, youth
or senior sections and are accompanied by
either tamburica musicians or the Alpine
orchestra. At present there are 125 members
engaged in performing dancing and singing,
playing instruments, costume design, developing
new choreographies and organising cultural
events.
Activities
Folk dance group Tine Rožanc organises
concerts on the regular basis, often with guest
appearances of well-known Slovenian musicians.
The group strives for the highest quality in its
performances in order to faithfully preserve
Slovenian folk traditions. This is reflected in the
success of the group in national competitions
where performances have been met
repeatedly with praise and high scores.
More recently Železničarsko kulturno-umetniško
društvo celebrated its 95th anniversary and to
commemorate this a concert, lauded by both
audience and folklore experts alike, was held in
the largest concert hall in Slovenia

Repertoire
Folk dance group Tine Rožanc performs choreographies
from all over Slovenia: from Prekmurje and Štajerska
in the east to Trst and Primorska in the west; from
Gorenjska and Koroška in the north, Notranjska in the
centre and Dolenjska and Bela Krajina in the south. The
folk traditions from these different regions are incredibly
diverse and this is reflected in the dances, songs, music and
